Trouble installing Graco base?

I just bought a SnugRide base for my Graco car seat, and I installed it according to the directions and it does not seem right at all! I installed in using the LATCH system, but the back of the base [the part on the front of the back seat] can easily be lifted up like 4 inches, with or with out the car seat in it! The directions have nothing tethering that part down. Is that how it’s supposed to fit? That’s how the directions say to do it. I am going to take it to the fire department tomorrow and have them look at it, but has anyone else had this problem? Am I just missing something?

That edge will move even with a perfect install… As long as the edge where the seat belt or latch straps are moves less than an inch side to side it is safe… But please have it checked anyways to be safe.

And the other person is right..it is to cradle the baby in the seat in case of crash.

Be sure to follow the directions for the handle while the vehicle is moving. Some brands allow you to leave the handle up, others don’t. I believe that the Graco Snugride is a mandatory down handle…
