graco car seat home
question bout when u leave the hospital after birth.?
my question is that i have an ifant car seat the graco one that has those loops to put the seat belt in between without using the base. but i dont have the base. would i have to have a base in order to take my baby home? or will the carseat by itself work. im due next wk so i kinda wanted to c or else to go and try to get one its just that ive looked for them but havent found them sold separetely.
You will have to have a base with a securely latching rear facing seat or they will not discharge you or baby until you do (this is what the hospital my son was born in told us when we brought him home on his discharge day). You can buy just the base for the seats but they are not easy to find all the time. Call the hospital and ask what kind of car seat system is best for bringing baby home in and tell them your situation. Someone will be able to tell you what the hospital policy is.
I’d get someone to go with you to a store that carries car seats and get one and get someone to help you install it in your car that you will be going to the hospital in rather than have a problem on coming home day. 
** something else I didn’t know until we brought home our little guy was that most police or fire departments will help you install a seat or check to be sure it is done properly. They can’t recommend any certain brand or type but they can tell you “this is safe and ok” or “don’t use this”.
