Which is safer, LATCH or a regular seat belt?
Which is safer for a infant and/or toddler car seat. The Latch system or a regular seat belt?
Neither is “safer” – LATCH is just supposed to be easier. You should use whichever gets you the tightest install. Carseats should not move more than one inch at the belt path (where the seatbelt or LATCH goes through the seat). We have one of our daughter’s seats installed with LATCH and the other with the seatbelt because that was how I could get the better install in each car.
You should NOT use both at the same time. Carseats have not been tested this way and you are using your child as a crash test dummy.
