booster seat in car what age or size?

at what age can i put my son in a booster seat, he is 6yrs old but the size of 7/8 yr old, we have a car seat that can be converted to a booster seat, also can it be used in the front seat? what about air bags. i have looked on various web sites but if someone could tell me in layman terms i would be grateful

The max for a booster seat requirement is 136 cm height and 7stone in weight as we’ve just stopped using ours for my partners daughter who is 10 and exceeds this limit.
I would have thought – unless your son is grossly under weight that he is ready for a booster seat. Remember also that you can get special advice from the fire brigade on this. They did an open day and I took my car down to make sure the baby seat was fitted properly…I tell ya that was well worth wasting a lunch break for!!!!
