infant car seat rules

infant car seat rules
Switching from infant car seat to up right car seat?

Just wondering… I know the “rule” is 1 year and 20 pounds.. but my baby is going to hit 20 pounds way before she is a year old. then what do i do in that instance?? She is too young now i’m sure -almost 7 months, but she is 17 pounds already and getting soooo heavy in the carrier car seat!! advice please for a first time mommy!?

A lot of the convertible carseats can be installed forward and backwards. We just bought the Evenflo Triumph Advance LX based on it’s high safety rating on Consumer Reports and it can be installed backwards for babies between 5-35lbs. Then forward for kids up to 50 pounds. Any “convertible” carseat should do the trick. And your arms will be glad to hear that the whole carseat stays in the car with this type of seat.

FYI
The latest safety recommendations are to keep babies rear-facing for as long as possible.
