flying with 3 little ones?

i am expecting a baby any time now and then a few weeks after she is here she will need surgery. we are using surgeons out of our area so we figure it will be easier and faster to take a plane instead of trying to drive 22 hours. it will just be myself an infant, a 2 year old and a 5 year old. any advice anyone can share? should i check in the baby’s car-seat and just hold her? should i bring the double stroller and push the two young ones through the airport and check the stroller on the plane? i myself have only flown twice so i’m already nervous as it is. what about if we have a lay-over? thanks for your answers

I would absolutely purchase a seat for each child and bring their carseats. It is much safer and much more comfortable for all concerned. I’ll be right back with a website explaining how (and why) to use a carseat best on a plane.

Gate checking a stroller also sounds like a great idea as it will not only a place to ‘contain’ the younger two but also a way carry some of your ’stuff’ till you get to the gate. A harness for the older child may not be a bad idea either… it is tough to juggle so many little ones in a busy place and no matter how well they listen a harness adds safety and peace of mind.
