checking car seat airline

I’m flying with a car seat for the first time in 2 weeks…?
I haven’t checked to see if my car seat says FFA approved somewhere on it, but I’m sure it is approved for planes, but my husband said airline’s can still say they won’t take a certain car seat even if it says approved on the car seat somewhere. Is there a website I can check to see if my son’s car seat is approved or should I take it into the airport sometime before I’m scheduled to fly?
Good for you for taking the seat! Lap babies have been injured and even killed in survivable crashes or turbulence after being thrown from their parents arms.
This website answers a lot of detailed questions about car seats and air travel: http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/airplanetravel.aspx But looking for your answer… I think in the end you may just need to speak to the airline itself. It *should* be accepted if it is FAA approved… but I would want to hear it from them!
Have a great trip!

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Someone walks through a metal detector and the buzzer sounds. Smiling guards wave him forward without making him empty his pockets or even explain why the alarm might have gone off.
