what can I do to help my restless gassy 3 month old sleep better?

She eats well, gains weight nicely, falls asleep nicely, but doesn’t stay asleep long before she starts writhing and squirming in her sleep with gas pains. Sometimes she’s relieved when she passes gas but in a few minutes starts again. I’ve picked her up on such occasions and I can feel and hear the creaking and grumbling that is causing her such discomfort. She barely spits up and only gets hiccups every few days. Sometimes she wakes up crying in pain. When I cuddle her near me the writhing isn’t as bad but still happens. We burp her well, bicycle her legs, and do tummy massage. i’ve altered my diet, given her baby zantac and also fed her sensitive and hypoallergenic formula and nothing seems to work. I’ve let her sleep in a car seat, in a sling and in a swing, also I’ve monitored her temperature to make sure she wasn’t hot or cold. I am really concerned for her sleep patterns. In all other ways she is a happy baby who laughs a lot and barely cries. does anyone have the magic answer?

Hi, first of all I feel for you and your poor baby. I would recommend gas drops before the feed and also once she is burped after her feeding hold her for another 25 to 30 min against your chest and with an up and down slow motion rub your hand up and down her back as she sleeps this should relieve any lingering gas.I would also recommend not changing formulas unless it is causing rash and or diarrhea. Changing formulas could just make it worse. Find one, and stick to it. Also 3 months old really don’t have a sleep pattern, but it is nice to start putting one into motion. I would also use the Mylicon gas drops at the recommended daily use even when she is not feeding, ever 6 to 8 hours. When it comes to gas there is not much you can do to prevent it, just be patient.
