car seat short people

car seat short people
I need to know my rights regarding repairs for a second hand car recently bought!?

When I bought the car, one wheel’s tyre thread is less than 1.6mm.

The front driver seat does not move forward or backward, so shorter people can’t reach the clutch pedal etc. The lever is jammed!

I asked for the seat to be bolted down! And it still rattles!

Do I have rights within the Sale of Goods Act to get this fixed?

The dealer is refusing, and IMO the car is not roadworthy because of the tyre and because the seat cannot be adjusted and since it rattles, that too can become loose and come off.

Please can anyone help me out.

I’m planning to send a letter out to the dealer tomorrow!

Thank you

If you paid for it (or any part of the amount, such as a deposit) by credit card then your best bet would be to pursue the card issuer on the grounds that the car was sold and was not fit for purpose. (The credit card issuing bank is jointly and severally liable with the dealer under the consumer credit act, and they will be a much easier target for you to get a refund.) Otherwise I don’t think you have much chance as I am pretty sure second hand cars are “sold as seen”. Go to the Citizens Advice Bureau for advice if you’re in the UK.
