What items can be gate checked?
Can the base to my infant car seat be gate checked? If so, how do I go about that and do I need to check it again during my layover or do they check it to my final destination?
No, the car seat & base must be checked at the counter, unless you have a paid seat for your baby & will be allowed to carry on the car seat, but will still need to check the base at the counter.
Gate checks are reserved for wheelchairs & handicap devices only. They check strollers when they have extra room, but are not required to. I travelled w/ my infant son a few times & I worked at PHL airport.
US airways checked my carseat & base for a flight & placed it in a plastic bag so it would stay clean. Southwest checked my carseat however they did not put it in a bag & it got dirty & dusty. So ask if they can do this for you also. GOODLK!
