Travel with Ease
The best thing about traveling is arriving at your destination, no doubt about that. For most people, the mere thought of going on a long overnight flight overseas is enough to scare the living daylight out of them. Flying thousands of miles across the globe need not be a dreadful feat. Though it seems there’s just no way of getting around it, here are some useful tips to ease the suffering that is long-haul flights.
Be prepared
Take cue from the boy scouts and always be prepared. It pays to be organized when it comes to traveling. When your trip is well thought-out, the hassles of going abroad would definitely be lessened, if not totally reduced to nothing. Be organized when it comes to travel essentials and documents, from airline tickets to hotel confirmation print-outs.
The best way of making sure you have all necessary travel paraphernalia is by printing out all the details of your trip before you leave. Stash the list into your hand-carry bag and make an extra copy to be put in your luggage. Take note of factors such as shuttle service schedules, hotel confirmations, directions and phone numbers and arrival and ground transportation details so to minimize confusion. A friend’s recent trip to New Jersey turned out to be a disaster as there was a mix-up in the car and chauffeur service she hired. She rented a stretch limo in NJ to make her arrive on time – and in style – to her brother’s wedding. She ended up being fetched by one of those fancy wedding limos from NJ airport instead.
Collect, collect then select
When it comes to choosing your flight, scout for as many airlines as possible. Opt for direct flights if there are any available ones. For connecting flights, try to choose one that would make a stopover in a country that you have already been to, or at least familiar with, for ease of navigation when you saunter into the airport.

Upon landing
It’s best to make arrangements in advance with car chauffeur services. When I went to the U.S. for a business trip, I rented an airport limo in NJ. Plan ahead and do research on ground transportation options. In my case, the last thing I wanted was to be picked up at the airport by one of those snazzy NJ prom limos or a NJ party bus.
Upon check-in at your hotel, take a short nap to help you get on schedule with local time. Explore the hotel’s immediate surroundings and don’t stay in your room for too long to get your body clock all set.

POLICE BEAT: From the June 17 edition
BORDENTOWN CITY Police responded to Park Apartments on Park Street at 1:33 p.m. May 20 on a report of a stolen bike. It had been secured in the parking lot by the owner, police said. It was a blue and chrome mountain-style bike with shocks under the seat and front handlebars. The value of the bike was $600.
