baby car seat jacket

Snowsuits/winter coats and car seats?
Up here in the frigid North, winter coats are a necessity. However, I had always read that babies should not wear puffy jackets or snowsuits in their car seats (reason: if you are in an accident, the jacket squishes down & baby can get injured).
So what do you do? Take baby out in a jacket, take it off and put them in the car seat? Use the jacket anyway? Winte seems close where I live & I need advice so Little Man doesn’t turn into a Little Popcicle!
I always take my daughter to the car with a coat on, sit her down in the car seat, then right before buckling her up, take it off and put it aside. Then, once it’s time to get back out, put it on again. Oh, and I make sure the car is warmed up before she gets in there.
Yes, it is a pain, but like you said, it gets cold in the North.

Packing for Holidays with Kids
There is nothing more exciting than going on vacation with the family, but remember that if you are packing for the holidays with kids there may be a few more items to bring along than usual. If you are travelling out of the country some of your favourite products may not be available such as the particular brand of baby wipes you use, so make sure you do not forget anything. You do not want to over pack but there is nothing wrong with being a prepared family. Here are a few tips for packing with kids:
* Depending on where you travel to, your children may get into messes everywhere they go or the bathrooms may not be well equipped. This means that you have to be prepared at all times. Carrying around baby wipes will take care of any bathroom emergencies as well as keeping the kiddies clean. If someone spills something, you will have baby wipes to clean up the mess on the spot. You may also want to bring some hand sanitizer to kill those germs especially after sightseeing or playing in a local park.
* It may be custom for you to bring along car seats and strollers on your vacations while travelling by air. However, these items may cost a lot to tag along. Check out rental prices as you may find it cheaper to rent these bulkier items than to bring them along for the ride.
* Do not pack more than necessary. Remember you can mix and match your outfits so for a 10 day trip, do not pack more than 3 pairs of jeans and 5 shirts. Depending on where you are going, you may need to pack a warm jacket or a few bathing suits. Only pack the essentials and tell yourself ‘no’ if you know that you are bringing too much. Plus if you are travelling to an area that sells cheap clothing, you may not want to pack all that much either. Leave room in your suitcase for souvenirs and gifts for your return.
* Some things are just easier and cheaper to purchase at your destination. Plus, you may not want to lose certain items. Do not risk losing your favourite umbrella, if you can purchase a cheap one while on holidays.
* Remember to bring all of the essential items in your carry-on luggage. Pack your child’s favourite stuffed animal, books and activities. Portable DVD players are great to keep your child entertained on the flight or ride over to your destination. Bring along a few DVD options for the roundtrip. Your child may not want to see the same movie time and time again.
* Pack all toiletries in small travel bottles and place them into a plastic bag. The last thing you want to do on vacation is do is the washing as soon as you arrive.
Making a checklist will also help you greatly to pack everything you need without forgetting anything important. And remember, have fun and relax while you are on holidays with your family!

Sheriff’s Office review board refers officer, recruit in Wendy’s shooting to internal affairs
A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office review board this afternoon referred the cases of an officer and recruit involved in a fatal shooting outside a Wendy’s to internal affairs, citing concerns about their failure to consider the goings-on around them – known as their backstop – and other issues. Three other officers involved in the March 26 shooting that left robbery/carjacking suspect Jermiah …
