car seat faa approved

traveling with an 18 month old?

I am traveling to NYC this June my little girl will be 17 months. I did not purchase her a seat she is considered a Lap baby which I think is okay. But I have been reading some articles that makes me feel like I should purchase her a seat and get the FAA approved child straps. I really believe she will be fine in my lap. Also we don’t plan on renting a car in the NYC so we will be taking public transpiration which means I will not have a car seat. Is this okay? Can you tell that I have never traveled with a child HELP.

How long is the flight? If it’s longer than an hour or two, I’d pay for a seat, and bring her car seat on the plane and install it. Plus, you get to board first to install the seat. I’d maybe have Dad install the seat first and have you and your child be the last two on board the flight so she’s got the most time off the plane as possible.

You don’t need to pay for the FAA approved straps. Most child car seats are FAA approved. There is a good chance yours is. If you take a cab at all, you’ll probably want to have your car seat along, as it’s safest to have one–yeah it’s a pain to install, but it’s safer if you get in an accident. Make sure to bring a lightweight stroller–not a monstrous Graco/Evenflo model. Something like a Maclaren or an umbrella stroller that folds easily and doesn’t take up a ton of space. They can check it at the gate so you can have it at the airport.

Bring plenty of snacks and a few new toys for her to enjoy on the flight.

Q: I’ve got a couple here for you. You said that you’d flown over Michigan Speedway. Are you still actively involved in flying right now? JACK ROUSH: You know, I had a wreck in my airplane, an airplane accident in 2002, on my 60th birthday, and people asked me how I recovered from that.
