car seat travel cases

does a stroller and car seat substitute a luggage when flying?

i know you are allowed 2 luggage cases what i want to know is if i bring a stroller does that mean i could only bring one luggage case. etc. i will be traveling with 6 other adults and most of them are going to bring only one luggage case.

If you are traveling with your child, the stroller and the car seat do not count towards your luggage allowance if you gate check them (this means that you carry them with you to your departure gate and have the attendant there check it for you when you board. They will put it in a special compartment for you, and when you get off the plane at your arrival airport, you must pick it up at the gate as well). Some airlines will allow you to check them free as well, others will charge you if you check it. You should check with your specific airline to get their view on how they handle those situations.

If you are still worried, just hand the stroller and car seat to other people who are traveling with you and have them check it in as part of their luggage.
