Subaru Impreza L 98 Speaker installation?
Hey,
So I’ve installed plenty of speakers before in cars, but this one I’m having a TON of trouble with.
I’m trying to do the rear speakers and I’m having problem with some of the panels and the back seat. The back seats in the car don’t go down, and for some reason the way it’s hooked on is a big bar going across the backside at the top of the seats that hook into this little latch. For some reason I can’t get these off, and I got 2 off, but now I can’t latch them back in. Also, to take out the panel covering the back speakers, you have to take off two coverings, one on each side, that goes from the backseats to the ceiling of the car. I have a panel tool and tried to pry off the one side, but it seemed like it just wouldn’t budge, and also like I was breaking it by doing it. I can’t believe how much trouble I’m having with this car, but if anyone has any links on how to install these on this car, or anything that could help, PLEASE let me know.

I recently put 6.5 separates in the front doors of my 96 Legacy, but haven’t had to fool with rear deck issues yet. If you get no other answers on this question, I would go to www.crutchfield.com and register with their installer’s forum and ask those gurus. I’ll bet one of them has tackled your problem for sure. You didn’t mention what you were putting back there and that info would be helpful too.
