Can my 2 year old be in a different car seat now?
My son was 2 on December 1st. It is getting difficult to buckle him into his car seat. He is just shy of 3 ft tall. My baby is also getting too big for his carrier/carseat and the carseat my 2 yr old is using would work for the baby because it can be rear or forward facing. I was wondering if I could use a booster seat for my 2 yr old. We have an extra one that has the back piece that comes up behind the child and there is a slot that you can put the shoulder strap through so it doesn’t rub on the child’s neck. We are just looking at ways to save money. If this will not work, I guess we will just have to buy a new car seat.
I should add that my 2 yr old is too tall for the carseat that we have him in now. His torso is long. We can’t adjust the straps anymore or they will pull out of the carseat. It was only meant for children up to 35 lbs and he is just under that.
Go buy a new seat. Unless you live in Florida, he’s still at least a couple years away from a booster seat (FL allows children to move out of a car seat at age 3, most everywhere else it’s age 4 or 6).
