new (used) car suggestions?
I’m looking to buy a new (used) vehicle in the near future. Needs to have AT, and leather seats in addition to being fuel effcient. Suggestions? No hatchbacks or wagons. Sunroofs and rear spoilers are welcomed. Looking in the 15/16 k range and below. (Perhaps something comparable to a Jetta).
have to laugh at the “luxury symbol” comment. i work in an office setting, and i’d just prefer not to have to run around with a lint roller like the girls who have cars with cloth interiors.
and my current car is a well taken care of ‘99 with leather, and it bears no resemblance to a deat rat.

2010 Vw Jetta
The 2010 VW Jetta is still the only budget sedan from Europe available in the US car market. One of the most enticing aspects of these cars beyond fuel economy is their high ability to be customized. VW offers a great selection of engines ranging from adequate, to more than powerful for these smaller sedans. Spaciousness is another key area that the Jetta rates excellent, offering drivers and passengers ample room along with a lot of space for cargo. Don’t forget about the TDi model as well, offering nearly untouchable fuel economy.
For the 2010 model year, VW offers an updated interior trim, revamped controls, an updated stereo, and ipod and Bluetooth tech ports. Depending upon the trim package selected, available options will vary greatly. Model packages available include the S,SE, SEL, Wolfsburg Edition, TDI, and TDI Street. Sports wagons are still available as well and are offered in S, SE, and TDI packages. S models have AC, cruise control, 16 inch rims, heated spray washers, heated mirrors, remote keyless locks, electric powered seats, rear bench seats, CD player with audio jack for gadgets, and optional heated front seats. SE models come with a sunroof in sedan models, vinyl seats and upholstery, leather shift knobs, Bluetooth connectivity, 20 speaker audio systems, and a six CD changer, with jacks for ipods and other mp3 players.
High end models of the 2010 VW Jetta, like the TDI Cup have 18 inch wheels that come with performance tires. Other features include sports seats, noticeable red calipers, performance suspension, optional paddle shifter on models that have the DSG transmission, trip computers, and a sporty body style. Chrome accents are available on high end models as well for trim strips and mirrors. Wagon models are similar except with slightly different body styles to conform to there extended frames and interiors.
Rear side airbags and an aerodynamic body kit are optional equipment on all models, excluding Wolfsburg editions. Sport wagons have an optional sunroof. Features that come standard on high end models like tech ports for gadgets can be added to basic models for an additional cost. Touch screen navigation systems can be purchase with a 30GB hard drive, DVD player, and USB port on all high end models as well.
Three different engines are offered for ‘10 models, including a 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine that is capable of 170 horsepower, a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine with an impressive 200 horsepower, and the fabled 2.0 liter TDI engine that uses clean diesel and puts out 140 horsepower. Although horsepower is compromised on TDI engine equipped, the overall saving in fuel economy certainly make up for it. There is practically no other car on the market that is similar in size that has such a great fuel economy. Coming in at 30 mpg city and 41 mpg highway it is an industry leader to say the least.
Safety features include stability control, side airbags, antilock brakes, and optional rear side airbags. In crash tests the 2010 VW Jetta scored a 4 out of 5 stars for frontal crashes, and a perfect rating for side impact crashes. Though it isn’t a class leader in frontal impacts, the side impact rating is certainly remarkable for a car of it’s size and stature.
Being the only mid-size European car on the market gives the 2010 VW Jetta enough distinction already, but the wide array of features and engines makes them even more popular. As possibly the most customizable car in it’s class, just about every consumer could find something they like about these cars.
