Getting through security at airport with 2 kids?
I am flying from WA to AK in 1 week. I have a 2 yr old daughter and 9 month old son. We are taking our double stroller which is 1 kid in front of the other. Its kind of big, and I have never traveled with a double before, I need the stroller on the other side, and I will need it too get though the airport!
I am putting my daughters car seat in the front seat of the stroller, and she will be walking, my son will sit in the back, and the 2 small carry-on’s will be put wherever I find room! So anyone who had gotten through security with children let me know how I will be doing this, I am so nervous.
And to top it all off, I am going through this ALONE! I am not worried about the flight itself, just getting though security. So try to calm me by telling me whats going to be going on when I get there. Is there a family line at the Sea-tac airport?
When you go through security, you will have to fold up the stroller and send it through the screener, as well as the carseat, carry-ons, purses,etc. They will allow you to carry the 9 month old through the x-ray, but the two year old will have to walk by herself. What I have done in the past to make it a bit smoother (will be a hassle no matter what) is have my older children walk through first and wait for me. That way I can put everything on the conveyor belt with out all the kids encircling me. There will be security on both sides of the gate, so your two year old can’t disappear from you.
Most airports are still insisting on the ridiculous demand of removing everyone’s shoes and jackets as well to go through the screener. Try and wear easy on/off shoes and maybe not have the kids wear any to cut down on all the commotion.
I’ve never heard of a family line at any airport, but it would be great if there was.
Give yourself plenty of time to get through security and ignore any dirty looks people waiting behind you may give.
