car seat age limits

when can i put my son in a todler car seat?
my son is now 11 months old he’s 19 pounds and 25 inches long he still sits in his infant rear facing car seat but iwas just wondering , i know thres a age and weight limit before they “move up” in car seats, and i was just wondering what that was?
1 year old AND 20 pounds.
“They” say that you should keep the child rear-facing for as long as possible though (like 3-4 years old).
If you do get into an accident, you can see how rear-facing seats wouldn’t allow much in the way of whiplash or other injuries.
I know its exciting though, to face the kid forward so you can see him. We couldn’t wait to do it with our daughter, so that was her 1st birthday present… lol.
