Can Montreal do anything if i dont pay a ticket in Ontario?

Hi, I spent the weekend in Montreal, Quebec and i unfortunatly had to deal with their police. I was in a vehicle with a sober driver and i was in the passenger seat drinking alcohol. The officer gave me a ticket for $274 dollars for drinking in a car and said if i fail to pay this that they can take legal action in Ontario. I was just wondering if there was any way i can avoid paying this ticket or if i can fight it here in Ontario. Or what happens if i dont pay the ticket at all? Thanks!

Breaking the law is not a provincial offence, police in any province will see it if you get stopped.

Festivals Around St Tropez

I and my wife Sandy were born and brought up in Quebec, Canada. Quebec’s motto ‘Je me souviens’ meaning ‘I remember’ always kept reminding me of my French decent; my forefathers had migrated to Canada about 150 years back. They belonged to St Tropez in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. My grand parents were fond of talking about property in St Tropez and especially of the festivals held there.

In early May one is in the midst of preparations for Fête de la Bravade, originally a procession revering town’s martyred patron saint, dating back to the 15th century. It is now a great festive occasion which draws crowds from far and wide. The colors, the activities, the enthusiasm and ambiance are awesome.

Earlier in the year (Feb) ARMEN Festival an enthralling event is a potpourri of water sports, winter sports, art appreciation and partying.

Dedicated to the martial history of the region’s people is Bravade des Espagnols, celebrating the warding off a Spanish onslaught in 1637, held in June every year.

Fête de St-Pierre the festivities to celebrate Saint Peter the saint of the fishermen of St Tropez, is held on 15 June every year with the traditional gusto and merriment.

Early September when autumn is creeping in the grape harvesting season begins with the festivities of Fête des Vendanges through out the region and all vineyards become alive with celebrations.

On a friend’s recommendation I finally called a reputed immobillier in St Tropez. It was good to have talked to them. They were courteous and more than willing to help us in renting a villa or buying property in or around St Tropez. I was skeptical about the cost of property in that region because I had believed that the region was for the real rich. But our contact assured us it wasn’t so. He informed me that the range of property prices could be from US$ 50,000 to US$ 25 million. Now that was encouraging.

So we decided to visit the place and booked our seats in a chartered flight to Gatwick in UK from where our travel agent arranged space aboard another chartered flight to Marseille International Airport, about 70 km from St Tropez, placed comfortably in the mid of the Esterel and the Massif des Maures. Our friends had arranged a rented car and we arrived at our lodging in hotel Yaca.

After a good night’s rest we visited the immobilier’s office and were really impressed by their friendliness mingled with a thoroughly professional attitude. We worked out a schedule to visit the properties that suited our price range and other requirements, in St Tropez and other villages around in the Var region. Having done with our business we went out for a lunch at Lei Mouscardins restaurant. The traditional French cuisines were very delicious. During the course of the meals we discussed the other attractions of St Tropez.

In the days that followed we had mainly two things to do; look up the properties that, ‘the’ immobilier in St Tropez recommended and then join the crowd to have fun. They were honest and straightforward. They informed us of both sides of the picture about all properties in St Tropez they showed us.

We have narrowed down our choices and hope to take the final decision soon- thanks to the appropriate recommendations by our immobilier in St Tropez about properties in St Tropez.
