If I didn’t have a shower for my first baby, can I have one for my second?
All of our family lives out of state, so we were never had a baby shower for our daughter (who’s now 2). We’re currently expecting baby # 2, and it’s a boy.
My sister in law wants to throw me a shower when we go to visit this summer, but my husband’s aunt is saying that it’s wrong. Since we didn’t have one the first, she says it’s our own fault, and we should just deal with it.
I don’t know what to tell my SIL, because I just don’t know if it’s “socially acceptable”. I wouldn’t want any big gifts. I made sure that I bought the pack n play and car seat/stroller in neutral patterns.
Would it be selfish of me to let her throw me a shower?
hey I had the same ethics as ur aunt but once I was invited to 2 baby showers by the same friend, I said what the heck, im tired of giving presents, tons of them and getting nothing, so Im gonna celebrate everything from now on. HAVE IT! and forget everyone, those same people that dont want you to have it, or that may talk about how unethical it is are the ones celebrating divorces!
EDIT: I was so mad at my shower, because I have a friend which has party for everyone in her family, I mean I even went to her dads 60th bday, and guess what? when I send her my invitation for my shower she told me that she was going out with her husband to buy a corvette? I was WTF? isnt the dealer open tomorrow? OMG I am so upset I will never speak to her again, and not to mention that I was JUST at her house a week before for her niece bday which I dont even know her sis to well.
