Maglite is one of the most popular flashlight brands on the market today. They are affordable, durable, and provide quality lighting. Many people use Maglites for a variety of purposes, and here are ten ways you can put a Maglite to use for you.
1. Key chain safety light. Maglite makes a small flashlight specifically designed to fit on a keychain and be carried in a purse or pocket. This light, which is called the Solitaire, has a specially designed barrel to allow you to shine it in the same direction your key is while it is still on your key chain. This allows you to see car and house door locks clearly at night and unlock them quickly. Limiting the time you spending getting in and out of cars and buildings at night limits your exposure to possibly dangerous situations.
2. Emergency car light. Many people keep one of the larger models of Maglites in their car or truck at all times. The original Maglite flashlight is great for this purpose, and can be stored right under the passenger or driver seat. Having a light in your car can be useful if you get into an accident at night or if you have a flat tire. In addition, a Maglite is durable and heavy enough to break a window should you need to escape from your car due to a wreck or rising water, but you can’t open the door or get the windows down.
3. Replace your emergency candle stock. Many of Maglite’s products come with a candle mode. This allows the head of the light to be removed and used as a base to set the barrel in. Using this feature, you can place the lights on a table and use them just like a candle, but without the risk of a fire! Now that LED light sources are available on these lights, the length of time you can use them has extended. Some LED flashlights have a battery life longer than the burn time of a candle!
4. Secure stick. Many people are aware that in the past, police have used their large flashlights as weapons to subdue suspects or to defend themselves during a fight. While this has been looked down upon in the area of policing, when you are defending yourself and your family, you probably won’t care what you use. By keeping a Maglite in your car, you will always have a good, solid weapon if you need it, in addition to having a good solid light source. If you are squeamish about defending yourself with a flashlight, often just shining this extra bright light into the eyes of a threat can buy you the time needed to escape.
5. Dedicated tool box light. I remember when my dad would work on a project when I was young. Anytime a flashlight was needed, the entire house was uprooted to find where it had got off to. Usually once it was found, there was another search for the proper batteries. You can avoid this hassle by having a small flashlight dedicated to your toolbox. Maglite makes several small, durable flashlights that are great for this purpose. Since they are constructed of metal, they would be able to endure the hardship incurred by being storied with screwdrivers and hammers. The LED lights would also offer longer battery life, making them a better option for the frequent handyman.
6. Precision craft light. Crafters who do needlepoint or work with beads know that the right lighting can make or break a project. Of course, good lighting isn’t always available, and the standard overhead lighting in homes is almost never enough. This lighting problem can be cured with the addition of a small Maglite. The Mini Maglite or Solitaire can be hooked onto a keychain and tied directly above the work table. Then, a concentrated beam of bright white light can be aimed at the particular place being worked, providing the ability to see any fine detail within the project.
7. First flashlight. You might remember the tiny little plastic flashlights sold in grocery store checkout standing years ago. They were the kind that ran out of battery life within the first hour, and the bulb never worked more than a day. The switches on these lights never held up to kids turning them on and off, either. Since kids love flashlights, and a good quality light might provide your child with hours of fun, why not start him or her off right with a Mini Maglite?

Newborn babies get hurt a lot when going to the doctors. They are constantly getting shots for things and check ups so they’re in a lot of pain. Researches have decided that a lot of babies feel pain, but do not always show it. Others showed that eighty-percent of procedures underwent on babies in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) are done without any medications. Many children, or newborn babies, may develop behavioral problems as result of going under too much pain without a medicine to stop it.
Most full-term babies do not have to go through as many procedures as babies that are born earlier than there due date. Since they are full term they do not have much to worry about, but premature babies unfortunately have some things undeveloped, as well as, other struggles. There are ways to prevent any uncomfortable feelings such as baby Tylenol, and some home remedies. Here are a few:
• Although it may be against your will to give your child a pacifier, or bottle feed, it is proven to relieve tension and relax the baby. If you are up to nursing then nurse right after the procedure as well because it proven just as affective.
• Just like when the baby is first born, it’s soothing and essential to have skin-to-skin contact with their mothers. It soothes and calms the child down almost instantly. Bare skin contact does help.
• Just like us, the baby is easily relaxed by a soothing warm bath. Following a light soak, rub the baby down with baby oil and massage the area of pain if able to. It relieves pain as well as relaxes the baby.
• Lidocaine is an over the counter numbing cream just like any other cream that is rubbed directly on the skin. It is easily purchasable at any pharmacy such as Wal-Mart, CVS, and so on. Usually it takes anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half to set in and prevent any more pain from rising.
• Other forms of Lidocaine can be injected into the skin before circumcision in a male new born. It is not offered so you must request it prior to the surgery. Just like a shot, it is inserted through a needle.
• Tylenol after the incident or procedure helps from any pain to develop. Doctors do not always recommend this medicine so ask before giving it.
