britax car seats usa
Why do manufactures offer the USA such ugly choices for car seats?
When I was looking for car seats I clicked on the European tab on several websites that sold car seats and was blown away at how awesome the car seat where. The ones they are selling in the usa are so drab. The Britax is a good car seat but it looks like it just walked out of the early 90’s.

I am going to try this question in a different section. I was more looking at this from sales point of view. I have worked as a product merchandiser for years now. When I walk into a store I see sets and cleverness of advertising not hey I want to buy that.
I agree safety is first and that is why I bought the Recaro. It would just be nice to have more options that didn’t suck.
I think you have your answers in the sum of several answers above, viz:
Americans are accustomed to terrible industrial design (notice confusion: but it couldn’t be safe AND pleasant to look at at the same time!)
and
Americans just don’t care about aesthetics (most of the cars that contain these are also no great shakes design-wise)
and
Americans are accustomed to being sold ugly stuff (you must be, like, shallow or something to question why your car seat [or toaster or what-have-you] is unattractive)
