toddler car seat travel bags

Traveling tips for a 21 month old?

Next week I will be traveling on a 9 hour flight with my 21 month old daughter. Just me and her. My husband is staying behind and following us on a later date. I’m a little stressed out about having to carry her, her stroller, her car seat and our carry-on bags through the airport by myself. I’m a tiny girl…not very strong =) She’s a VERY active and curious toddler, so the idea of me trying to make her sit still quietly for 9 hours is also a little stressful. We’ve traveled on a long flight before, but she was 3 months old and slept pretty much the whole time. Any idea on how I can keep her entertained or any other things that could help? She’s potty trained, so I don’t have to worry about bringing along a bunch of diapers and wipes this time.

Call the airlines if it is not a direct flight (they can probably help you with a ride on the golf cart or something to help you and your daughter get from point A to point B)

Board early and get settled

Practice making faces now with your daughter (as in opening mouth to help pop her ears and release that pressure)

Pack just one large carry on for both of you: snacks, juice boxes, books, I-pod w/ Dora shows, games, one or two dolls, a small snuggle blanket, etc (BTW, wash the blanket with a lavender scented detergent as lavender has a calming effect

Finally, pack plenty of patience and a sense of humor — you’ll be in better shape if you’re calm
