safest convertible car seats

Has Anyone recently bought a Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe Convertible Car Seat?
Im wondering, since it is discontinued..is it worth buying? If i were to buy a Britax I would only have a 1year warranty anyway. The one i am looking at was manufactured Aug. 2007.
Thanks
What does it mean by the seat will expire?…does it begin to fall apart or what??? Thanks.
We have it – just like a Marathon with a less nice cushion. When I was researching seats, I found out that it is actually made by Britax and was being discontinued because Fisher Price was no longer going to be carry their car seat line.
My only word of caution would be that you should not keep a car seat for more than 5 – 6 years . . . so if you would not get full use out of it then you should get a different seat.
My twins have been in it for a few months now – we have 2 Britax Marathons and 2 Fisher Price seats. The Marathons are a bit nicer and we use them for longer trips. Based on my estimates, my twins will be moving to booster seats around when they would expire so it made sense to us to save the $$$
Best wishes!
ETA – Expire meaning that the plastic of the seat may be compromised by age and is no longer safe. This does not mean that it will happen to every seat, but some seats will break / crack etc . . .making them unsafe in an accident.
