Britax Boulevard car seat users.?

I have been reading through the manual and it says “Do not discard Foam Inserts” (The hard foam under the seat on the car seat)

So… don’t take them out? Take them out but don’t throw them away? It’s too late to call the company…

No. Not the soft padding under the car seat cover… the hard, white foam under all of that in the base of the car seat. There is 2 pieces of it.

Why would you take it out? It suppose to absorb some of the shock in case of an accident. I have the Boulevard and I when I wash the fabric I see it where my toddler sits (we are talking about the same foam right?) well I leave it alone because it is covered by fabric and cushion and more importantly the manual says so..
