car seat weight recommendations

car seat weight recommendations
What age do you think it’s alright for a child to use this car seat (picture included)?

This is a car seat I was thinking about buying my 11 month old daughter when she grows out of her infant seat and is around 25 pounds…..

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3190397

I’m confused because the manufacturer age recommendation is 3 years and up…but it also says that the weight minimum is 20 pounds, which would be the weight of a child around 1. That doesn’t seem right to me. I’ve seen much younger children than 3 in similar car seats and a lot of the people who’ve commented on it say they use it for their 1-2 year old. It’s a 3-in-1 seat so it’s supposed to be the only car seat you’ll ever need after an infant seat…that’s why I love it so much =) What do you think?

it is a booster seat so you need to go by age then weight

which is the same for all carseats exept for the infant carrier (with the handle) as soon as the reach either the weight or height limit then they go into a rear facing seat and they must stay rear facing un till they are 1 year AND 20 pounds, not one or the other so if they are 20 pounds at 10 months they still need to face backwards, or if they are 1yo and weigh 18 pounds you will have to weight to turn the seat around untill they are 20 pounds (even if it is not untill they are 18 months)

so go by the age then the weight
the child has to be both the right age and weight.

a 1 yo can better hanle thir posture then a 9mo even if the 9 mo weighs more and a 20 pound baby can better survive and accident facing foward then one who is 18 pounds

if it is a 3 in one this means the that is can face backwards for newborns (and be at the right angle) and can face backwards and at the right angle for an older baby (untill they reach 1yo and 20 pounds)
the once they reach 1 yo and 20lbs it can be turned around to face foward untill a booster is needed (and many are also boosters up to 100 lbs….) so if the manufacturers instructions say 0-100 pounds it will the only seat you need

remember the manufactuers make thes seats for babies of all sizes…my daughter will be 1 next month and she still hasn’t reached the limit (height or weight) for infant seat and sits comfortably in it.
she is currently less the 18 pounds. (she gets weighed next week)

but she will not make 20 pounds by 1 year.
my son was 20 pounds by the time he was 91/2 months (already in a rear facing car seat because he was so tall)
he moved from the baby seat (the one with a handle to carry seat and baby) to car seat by 6-7months.

the seats have to be made to fit all ranges of babies from th small to the tall.

so if the manufacture says 3-10 years it means just that (some three year olds are very light.

your local police dpt. should beable to answer your questions (if you live in CA. contact the chp they also have free carseat check ups you can call and go in and they will help you)
if you are in another state contact you local police dept (if they can’t check up your car seat they can and will tell you who can) contact you states highway patrol (or similar agency)

carseat checkups are always free….if you have to pay…don’t! it is should be free (mind you donations are different if they are optional)

don’t be afraid to contact the manufactuer
and you can talk to your childs pediatrition (bring the info onthe seat or bring the seat in if you have already purchased it!)
