I have heard that the police dept will help parents see if their car seat is installed properly. True?

Yes. You can take it to an inspection center at any local court house. The sheriffs are out there to see if you have corrected your tint/muffler/any fixable ticketed offense. If you ask them to check I’m sure they won’t have a problem.
