support for head on one year old car seat?

my son just turned one last month and right before his birthday we made a trip south to visit my family, about a 16 hour drive. my sons in a stage two car seat that sits him straight up, and every time he would try to fall asleep his head would bobble down and he would wake up. after a night of this he got fed up and went to sleep with his head tipped sideways,only to awaken an hour later with the inability to move his neck, finally we arrived and i laid him down for a nap, he was incredibly livid and in pain,and didnt pick his head up until later that night. so my question is, is there any good way to prop his head up when he sleeps in the car?? i tried rolling a blankie up and putting it under his head, but it would slide out or he would get fidgity with it and chuck it or swing his head the other way.any good ideas mommies?

If he just turned one, you could always turn the car seat back around so it faces rearward, and have it in the reclined position that it is supposed to be when facing backwards. Its more comfortable and safer too!
