britax car seat faa approved

anyone flown from uk with kiddy carseats and then used them in us?

i have heard of people using their car seats on the plane and then having them to use for the hire car when the arive in us, i have just read on the britax website a car seat that is eu approved (uk) cannot be used in the us as it need to be an faa approved seat.
so does that mean i have to hire one when i get there or can i buy an faa approved one here (uk)
so confused surely i’m not the only one with kids going to florida and hiring a car!

Ask a travel agency or phone B.A head office and ask them what the story is..Surely they have come up against this before..
